Manchester City are reportedly showing interest in Chelsea's Argentina international midfielder Enzo Fernandez as the summer window nears its end. The links have been reported by multiple outlets, including an Italian journalist known for his transfer coverage.
Notably, Fernandez previously played under Enzo Maresca, who now manages City. The suggestion is that Maresca, having worked with the midfielder before, may want to reunite with a player he knows well.
Chelsea Said to Demand Up to £150m
Chelsea, now managed by Xabi Alonso, are said to be reluctant to sell cheaply, with reports suggesting they could demand as much as £150 million for their midfielder.
Fernandez joined Chelsea from Benfica in January 2023 for a fee that was a British transfer record at the time. He remains under a long-term contract, which keeps Chelsea in a strong negotiating position.
City Reportedly Undeterred Despite a Missed Opportunity
